The Beta Iota chapter of Sigma Chi at the University of Oregon was chartered in 1910. Their charter was pulled in 1996 and the chapter was absent at the UO for the next four years. In 1999, a group of ten Sigma Chi members from the Beta Pi chapter at Oregon State transferred to UO in order to foster support for the re-charter of Beta Iota on the UO campus. The "Beta Pi Ten" accomplished their goal in nine months; Beta Iota was re-chartered in 2000.
