      <abstract encodinganalog="5203_">Palmyra Bean Packer (1915-2008) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who was born at the Joseph Smith house in Palmyra, New York, in 1915 while her parents were serving a mission as caretakers of the property. This collection contains digital-only scans of black-and-white panoramas and photographs and postcards related to Sacred Grove and the Joseph Smith farm in New York in the 1920s and 1930s.</abstract>

    <bioghist encodinganalog="545">
      <p>Palmyra Bean Packer was born on August 15, 1915, in Palmyra, New York to Rebecca Peterson and Willard Washington Bean. The Bean family were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At the time of Palmyra's birth, they were serving as missionaries and caretakers of the Joseph Smith farm, and Palmyra Bean Packer was born in the house. Palmyra Bean served a mission to the Eastern States. During this time, she met Thane J. Packer, a fellow missionary; the two were married in the Salt Lake Temple and together had four children. Palmyra Bean Packer died on June 9, 2008.</p>

      <p>The Palmyra Bean Packer digital photograph collection consists of scans of black-and-white photographs, panoramas, and postcards related to Sacred Grove and the Joseph Smith house and farm in Palmyra, New York, dating from approximately the 1920s and 1930s. Folder 1 includes panorama photographs of missionary conferences at Sacred Grove in New York photographed by the Klines, owners of the Fellowcraft Studios. The scans were made from original prints and postcards which were subsequently returned to the owner; original order was preserved. Item-level identifications were provided by the owner.</p>
