      <p>Elizabeth Haglund (b. 1914) worked for the University of Utah for twenty-nine years. She was first executive director of public relations and later on became special assistant to University President Chase Peterson. In 1980, while assisting the Vice-President for University Relations, she was asked to edit a collection of essays about the University of Utah. This collection of essays was published in the book <title render="italic">Remembering the University of Utah</title>, published in 1981.</p>

      <p>The Elizabeth Haglund papers (1942-1981) contain writings by University of Utah professors and students who describe their experiences at the University. </p>
      <p>In addition to the fifteen descriptions of life at the University of Utah are seven pen sketches of University leaders drawn by Alvin Gittins in 1980-1981: Orson Spencer, Dr. John R. Park, Dr. LeRoy E. Cowles, Dr. Joseph T. Kingsbury, Dr. John A. Widtsoe, Dr. George Thomas, and Dr. A. Ray Olpin. Also included is an oversize pen sketch of three University of Utah presidents by Gittens. The papers in this collection are the original essays contained in the book <title render="italic">Remembering the University of Utah</title> and have notations and editing marks showing the changes prior to publication.  The pen sketches have been removed and placed in Reserve.  Access must be given by the Manuscripts Curator and by appointment.  An archivist must remain with the items if being used.</p>

      <p>Twenty-four hour advanced notice encouraged. Materials must be used on-site. Access to parts of this collection may be restricted under provisions of state or federal law.</p>
      <p>The pen sketches from box 1, folder 9 have been removed and placed in Reserve. The folder contains photocopied versions for access purposes.  Access to the originals must be given by the Manuscripts Curator and by appointment.  An archivist must remain with the items if being used.</p>
