      <head>Biographical Sketch</head>
      <p>Antoine de Seynes (1900-1972?) was a French government bureaucrat and land-owner who learned to kayak especially for the 1938 trip down the Colorado River.  He continued kayaking in France and opened a sports shop in Toulouse.</p>
