      <head>Biographical Note</head>
      <p>Mary Drain Albro (1876-1962) was a founding member of the Pioneer Rose Association, established in 1936 to locate and preserve the roses brought to Oregon by the pioneers. In 1942 the Association dedicated a Pioneer Rose Garden on the campus of Pacific University, in memory of Tabitha Brown.</p>
      <p>Albro was born and raised in Drain, Oregon, and attended nursing school in San Francisco. After a 40 year career as a nurse, she became involved with a variety of historical organizations, including Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers and the Pioneer Rose Association.</p>

                <title render="italic">The Pioneer Rose Trail and Eternal Light: A Legend of the First White Mother of Old Oregon, Marcissa [sic] Prentiss Whitman</title> and 
                <title render="italic">The Pioneer Rose Trail</title>; biographical information; programs for the Old Memorial Rose Dedication at Pacific University; newspaper clippings pertaining to the Pioneer Rose Association of Oregon; photographs; and other materials related to roses and rose growing. In addition, there is a photocopy of the booklet, 
                <title render="italic">Wagon Trails Lead to Roses in December: A Pioneer History of Drain, Oregon</title> by Jen Carlson.</p>
