The photographer of this collection of glass negatives is unknown. The negatives were found among the possessions of Lawrence Duffy after his death in 1973. It is unclear how Duffy came into possession of the negatives; he lived in Oregon for some period of his life, but he could not have been the photographer. The photographs were taken approximately between 1890 and 1900. Duffy was born in Wyoming in 1896 and arrived in Portland after World War I.
