History of Upper Green River Cattle Association

The Upper Green River Cattle Association was organized in 1916 from one of the larger cattle associations in the Green River Valley of Wyoming. It was originally called the Upper Green River Cattle and Horse Growers Association and changed its name in 1925 to the Upper Green River Cattle Association. The association's cattle have trailed or drifted up and down the Green River with the seasons for so many years that their migration has become known as the Green River Drift. The association has worked closely with the U.S. Government and other cattle associations to manage the Green River Drift and develop the range so that it is protected and productive for future generations.
