         <p>The Eastern Washington Health Services Agency served communities of eastern Washington and north Idaho through the development and maintenance of numerous medical facilities, and educational programs from 1976 to 1986.</p>  
      </bioghist>
      <scopecontent encodinganalog="5202_">
    
         <p>This collection contains records for the Eastern Washington Health Systems Agency (EWHSA) from 1976-1983. The collection consists of administrative records for multiple health agencies and facilities including: Deaconess Hospital, Department of Health and Human Services, Eastern Washington Area Agency on Aging, Sacred Heart Medical Center, Walla Walla Community Health Clinic, and St. Mary Medical Center. The collection also contains committee reports and proposals, incoming and outgoing correspondence with state officials, hospitals and other health agencies, as well as financial records and plans, including grant proposals, county donations, monthly expenditure reports, and government requirements, regulations, and reviews. Additionally, the collection contains records pertaining to the EWHSA's many public programs and services, such as family planning, nutrition, the Blood Bank, health program for refugees, nursing homes, health education, and forums on energy planning and development.</p>
