Professor of psychology, University of Washington; university administrator and author (1928-1994). A native of California, Robert Bolles completed his undergraduate and masters degrees at Stanford University and received a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley in 1956. He taught at Princeton University (1956-1958) and at Hollins College, Roanoke, Virginia (1959-1966), before joining the University of Washington's psychology department in 1967. Bolles served as the department chair in 1970 and 1984. He was also a respected researched in the field of animal psychology.
