Utah State University Libraries general materials collection documents a portion of the history of the university's main library, Merrill-Cazier Library. Materials in this collection were created to document the functions of the library and records the development of the library overtime. The collection includes materials that cover library management, public relations, and development.

Historical NoteReturn to Top

The university library was first housed in Old Main until it was moved to a new building in 1930. In 1958 a new library building was purposed to accommodate the need for more space. The building was dedicated in 1967 and named after long-time USU administrator Milton R. Merrill. In the early 2000's the Merrill library was demolished and a new library was built on to the existing Cazier Science and Technology Library, named after former USU president Stanford Cazier.
