The Irrigation Experiment Station was authorized by the state legislature in 1917,
and opened in Prosser, Washington on May 24, 1919. In 1965 the name was changed to
the Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center (IAREC).
Primarily consists of maps and drawings related to the Columbia Basin Project.
Includes road maps, topographical maps, as well as soil survey maps. Maps from about
1938-1965.
This is an unprocessed collection. Any arrangement reflects either a pre-existing
order from the records' creators or previous custodians, or preliminary sorting
performed by staff.
Maps are neatly stacked in a rough chronological order. Some maps are out of place
but primarily they are in chronological ascending order. UA1992-05 can be located in
the tan oversized map case located near the large document scanner.
This collection is open and available for research use.
