			<p>A 22 page manuscript, dated 1980 October 24, written by Robert R. Swartout and Fred
				C. Bohm, that was presented at the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs at the
				University of Iowa. The paper discusses the journals of U.S. Navy surgeon George W.
				Woods (1838-1902), written about his time travelling through Asia while serving on
				the U.S.S. Juniata, between 1883-1886. The paper was later published in the Journal
				of Social Sciences and Humanities 52 (December 1980).</p>
