<head>Biography of Paul Langton</head><p>Paul Langton (1913-1980) was a character actor who performed in motion pictures and television. He started in film in 1941 by becoming a contract player at MGM, frequently appearing in war films. Later, Langton was seen in character parts or supporting roles in such films as <emph>The Incredible Shrinking Man</emph> (1957). Langton began appearing on television in 1951 in a series called <emph>The Web</emph>; his first regular role was that of Walter Dennis on the daytime series <emph>The Brighter Day</emph>. He also made five guest appearances on the prime time serial <emph>Perry Mason</emph> from 1958-1962, three of which were as prosecuting attorneys. But it was the role of Leslie Harrington on the television serial drama <emph>Peyton Place</emph> (1964–68) for which he was best known. After he was written out of the series, he appeared in half a dozen other television serials including <emph>It Takes a Thief</emph> (1968), <emph>Ironside</emph> and, in his final role, <emph>Emergency!</emph> before retiring due to ill health.</p>
