Ralph E. (Ted) Packard was a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Utah from 1968 until 2006. The records in this collection covers part of his stints as Chair of the Department of Educational Psychology and Director of the Counseling Center, as well as the interim Chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning.

Biographical Note
Ralph E. (Ted) Packard began his career at the University of Utah in 1965 as an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology. He became the Director of the Counseling Center in 1967 and served in that position until 1977. Afterwards, he served as Chairman of the Department of Educational Psychology from 1977 to 1984. Packard was elected president of the American Association of State Psychology Boards in 1984. He served as the interim Chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning from 2002 to 2003. in 2006, he retired and received emeritus status.
The material in this collection consists of budget material, correspondence, memoranda, minutes, and reports from Ralph Packard's terms as Chair of the Department of Educational Psychology, Director of the Counseling Psychology Program, and interim Chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning.
The collection is organized in three series: 1. General Correspondence; 2. Counseling Psychology Program; 3. Department of Educational Psychology. The files within each series are arranged alphabetically.
Materials must be used on-site; advance notice suggested. Access to parts of this collection may be restricted under provisions of state or federal law.
