William H. Kibbie briefly attended the University of Idaho in the 1930s. In the early 1970s, Kibbie agreed to make a substantial donation toward the roofing of Idaho Stadium, and thus the roofed stadium was named the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center ("Kibbie Dome").
