      <p>Modern dancer Barry Lynn performed in Salt Lake City as a soloist and with his own dance company for many years before leaving Utah in 1978. His collection includes personal photographs of his family, his years in the army, and portraits of his friends, but the bulk of the collection consists of prints of performances in a variety of dance concerts over a period of nearly thirty years.</p>

    <bioghist encodinganalog="545">
      <p>Barry Lynn, originally named Lynwood Carver, was born in 1913. He graduated from Roxboro High School in Roxboro, North Carolina, in 1931. Between the years 1939 and 1942, he was an active participant in student theatrical and dance productions at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He served in the military during World War II from about 1943 to 1946. Lynn settled in Salt Lake City and became involved with the Virginia Tanner Dance Theater. He also served as director of costuming for the Department of Ballet and Modern Dance beginning in the 1960s.</p>
