The Oregon Vocational Agriculture Teacher's Association (OVATA) is an organization of agricultural education teachers in Oregon secondary schools. OVATA works closely with six other educational programs in Oregon -- Oregon Future Farmers of American (FFA), Oregon FFA Alumni, Oregon Department of Education, Oregon Community Colleges, Collegiate FFA, and Oregon State University -- in an informal association known as Team Ag Ed.

David Raynalds earned a M.Ed. in Agricultural Education from Oregon State University in 1967 with a thesis titled "Preparation of Vocational-Technical Teachers in Selected Community Colleges"; he initially enrolled as a graduate student at Oregon State College in 1952 and complete courses toward his graduate degree during several summer sessions in the 1960s. Raynalds taught agriculture at Stanfield (Oregon) High School for many years and served as head of the Agriculture Department and night school at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon beginning in about 1965. A native of Texas, Raynalds graduated from Texas Technological College with a B.S. in 1948. Raynalds wrote the "Tex Talks" column for the OVATA newsletter, , until about 1964. David Raynalds died in September 1970.
