      <p>The Steel Bridge over the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon, opened July 21, 1912, for trains and August 12, 1912, for automobiles. It is owned by the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific railroads. The bridge is the only double deck telescoping vertical lift bridge known to exist.</p>
