		  business</abstract></did><bioghist encodinganalog="5450_"><p>Masato Uyeda and his wife Ayako, who operated a landscaping and garden
		  ornament importing business, were active in various Japanese community
		  organizations including Hiroshima Kenjinkai (Club), which was an organization

		  scrapbooks, photography book, 1894-1981 (bulk 1940s-1980s). One scrapbook of
		  clippings in Japanese concerns the Hiroshima Kenjinkai (Club), composed of
		  people who came from Hiroshima and their descendants. Another organization
		  documented is Seattle Japanese Community Service, a forerunner of Nikkei
		  Concerns and Keiro Nursing Home. Related Accession: an interview with Mr. Uyeda
		  recorded in 1970. See also excerpts from interview of Mr. Uyeda in Kazuo Ito,
		  "Issei," 1973, pp. 555-558 (F 900 J35H8613 1973). The two scrapbooks containing
		  mainly Seattle clippings were compiled by a younger cousin and have been
		  retained to show media coverage of some Seattle Japanese artists and community
		  leaders in the 1950s.
