      <p>Runnalls was a doctor. He was medical officer at Marylebone Workhouse, England, in the 1880s, then came to the U.S. and settled in Puyallup. He was an active outdoorsman and naturalist as well as a political figure running for mayor at one time. He extensively explored the Olympic Mountains and travelled to Alaska where he mined and served as medical officer.</p>
