Charles Eggert (b.1918) is a photographer and independent filmmaker originally based in Barrytown, New York. He was actively involved in several conservation movements in the 1950s and 1960s, including the Echo Park Dam controversy, the creation of Canyonlands National Park, and the controversy over the proposed dams in the Grand Canyon. Charles Eggert headed several river expeditions down the Green and Colorado Rivers during the 1950s, prior to the damming at Flaming Gorge and Glen Canyon. These trips resulted in the films,

Color film (no sound) by Charles Eggert of the Hatch River Expeditions voyage down the Colorado River from Lees Ferry through the Grand Canyon in the summer of 1956, second stage of the Hatch-Eggert Expedition that began the previous year. Scenes from this filming probably became part of Eggert's film, "Danger River." Scenes include Navajo Bridge over Colorado River (at 1:28 - 1:45); Confluence with Little Colorado (4:49 - 5:35); Footbridge near Phantom Ranch (10:15 - 10:18); Deer Creek Falls (12:40 - 13:09); Major rapid (Lava Falls?)
