Sioux, Spokane, and Colville Indian Reservations. Born in Ohio, he graduated
from medical school in 1884, and arrived in Nespelem, at the Colville Indian
Reservation in 1890. An amateur photographer, Latham took hundreds of
photographs, recording the events and residents of these Reservations using
portraits and close shots. Subjects of his photographs include Chief Moses of
the Columbias and Chief Joseph of the Wallowa band of the Nez Perce. Edward
Latham died in Lakeside, Washington in 1928.</p></bioghist><scopecontent><p>Photographs of residents, visitors, and events in the Confederated

include uppercase letters to indicate different versions of similar images.
However, the arrangment for this collection also uses lowercase letters to
indicate different versions of some photographs. As a result, some images
contain both uppercase and lowercase letters (e.g., Latham 4887Aa), and in some
instances, Latham uses the letter "C" with a space, and marks versions with a
period (e.g., "Latham 4882 C.2").</p></arrangement><odd encodinganalog="500" id="a5"><p>Latham appears to have sold or given his negatives to Lawrence

and 4x5) was acquired along with the Lindsley donation. The group of 11x14
mounted Latham images, along with corresponding copy negatives, were received
