          Oblong quarto album (21 x 29 cm.) containing twenty-six silver gelatin photographs mounted on fourteen stiff card leaves. Most photographs ca. 14 x 20 cm. A few smaller photographs ca. 12 x 17 cm and one large panorama photograph ca. 14 x 25 cm., consisting of two separate photographs, are also included. Period ink captions, some inscribed in negative in lower margins of photographs, accompany each image. Album leaves are period gray papered boards. Album spine is black fabric.

      <p>Albert Henry Barnes (1876-1920) was a painter and photographer. He documented Pacific Northwest people, cities, and landscapes in his photographs. Barnes maintained studios in Tacoma and Parkland. At the turn of the century, he primarly focused on Western Wasthington subjects.<?xm-replace_text {Text of biographical or historical note, in paragraphs; separate each with paragraph tags}?></p>

      <p>This album contains photographs of landmarks located in and near Mount Rainier National Park. Scenes and landmarks depicted include close up views of Mount Rainier; the Tatoosh Range; Paradise Valley; mountain scenes taken from Mount Beljica and Mesler Peak; views of the Puyallup, Nisqually, Paradise and Mashel Rivers; Rainier Fork; Narada Falls; and Spanaway, Reflection, Mineral and Clear Lakes. Forest scenes depicted include an image of a road "3 mls. above Elbe" and a portrait of a rifle-toting figure standing next to a "Fir tree on Roundtop Creek, Lewis Co. Wn., Diam. over 13 ft." The actual dates of the photographs are not evident, though a photograph labeled "2 mls. above L. Springs" is inscribed in negative with the note "Copyrighted 1901 by A. H.
