The American Society for Range Management was officially formed in 1948 (named
changed to Society for Range Management or SRM in 1970) to provide educational
services to promote a better understanding of rangeland stewardship to its members
and the public. The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the SRM was approved in 1949.
E. William Anderson was a founder and former president of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the
Society for Range Mangement.
