and scrapbooks of Jeanette Testu, a Washington state legislator from Seattle
(1942-62), and her involvement in state and national activities of the
Democratic Party.Jeanette Testu was a member of the Washington State Legislature from
1942 to 1962, National Committeewoman for the state of Washington from
1940-1944, and a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1940, 1944,
1952 and 1956. She was a member of the platform committee at the Democratic
National Convention in 1956.
Correspondence and scrapbooks from her position as a Washington state
legislator from Seattle (1942-62), and her involvement in state and national
activities of the Democratic Party; 1933-1962.
The papers comprise of 39 folders (approximately 640 items) of general
correspondence and 22 scrapbooks containing memorabilia. The correspondence,
which is almost totally incoming, dates from 1933-1962. The letters are
primarily honorific, but there are some from constituents and some dealing with
congressional issues, Democratic Party politics, etc. A list of personal names
and organizations represented in the general correspondence is available with
the collection.
