      <abstract encodinganalog="5203_">Elinor Frances Meacham Redington (Nellie) was the daughter of Alfred B. Meacham, Superintendent of Indian Affairs in Oregon (1869-1872) and wife of John Watermelon Redington, Indian scout and newspaper editor-publisher. She graduated from Willamette University in 1877, and taught in several cities throughout Oregon. Papers include typescript photocopy reminiscences regarding her early years at Lee's Encampment (now Meacham, Oregon), her father's career, and her own teaching career; a biographical sketch of John Watermelon Redington; and a newspaper clipping regarding Nellie Redington's graduation speech from Willamette University.</abstract>
