This collection of materials contains records from the Campus Christian Center, including various documents, photographs, and memorabilia.
Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Campus Christian Center, currently known as "The Center," was founded in 1930 by the Idaho Institute for Christian Education (IICE). Ground was broken on the current building in 1950 on the corner of Elm Street and University Avenue. As of 2023, the inter-faith cooperative is supported by six local churches: St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, First United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, the United Church of Moscow (American Baptist/Disciples of Christ), and Community Congregational-United Church of Christ.
In the spring of 1931, the IICE installed a chapter of Chi Alpha Pi, a religious fraternal organization, on the University of Idaho Campus. Charter members included Glen Gage, Wayne Smith, Raynor Sverine, Stanley Rusho, Ernest Rusho, Albert Holbrook, Harry Witter, Howard Cagle, Rayburn Brians, Elwin Heckert, Charles Bean, Charles Fifield, Maurice Erickson, Harold Edwards, and Stanley Hall. In the summer of 1939, Chi Alpha Pi merged with the Alpha Delta chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

The original provenance was maintained throughout the collection, though a thematic order was imposed on Series VI materials during processing. Duplicates and other sensitive material were removed during processing.
