Graduate School 1.25 linear feet The Graduate School and the Graduate Council supervise the degree requirements for academic and professional degrees and evaluate individual graduate programs. James L. Clayton served as dean of the Graduate School from 1978 to September 1986 when he was named Provost. David W. Pershing served as acting dean from September 1986 to March 1987. This collection is composed of duplicate correspondence and memoranda from the Dean of the Graduate School. English

This collection is composed of duplicate correspondence files from the Dean of the Graduate School, James L. Clayton, and his successor, Acting Dean David W. Pershing. Principal subjects covered are Graduate Council reviews of graduate programs and general policy questions concerning graduate study. Also included is professional correspondence of James L. Clayton dealing with personal research and writing on the national debt and on historical study of the Mormon Church.
