			<p>Kruegel Hall finished construction in 1956 on the campus of the State College of
				Washington. Connected via a lounge to McAllister Hall, this complex went by name of
				“K-Mac” for short. The building was dedicated after William C. Kruegel, who was the
				bursar for the school. Kruegel financed the Pullman Community Building Company, a
				nonprofit organization that was created to build residence halls. Kruegel Hall was
				demolished in 2024-2025.</p>

			<p>This collection contains two scrapbooks describing life and events in Washington
				State University’s Kruegel Hall dormitory. One ranges from 1957-1958, and the other
				ranges from 1963-1964. The pages show everyday life and activities that took place
				in Orton Residence Hall. This includes photos, pamphlets, news clippings, and hand
				drawn elements. The 1963-1964 scrapbook also contains photos of the Kruegel Hall
				Snow Queen finalists. </p>

			<p>Sara Refsland, office manager in WSU Housing and Residence Life, donated this
				collection to the Washington State University Libraries on January 15, 2025, where
				it was retained without an accession number. It had been in storage in various Orton
				Hall locations for years.</p>

			<p>WSU student Steinar Goheen Steinar Goheen processed this collection in February 2025.
				Scrapbooks possessed low states of structural integrity, and were unbound. The
				original order of pages was retained. Loose photos were matched to scrapbooks using
				given context clues. </p>

	 	<p>Materials from WSU dormitories Kruegel Hall, East House <extref href="https://archiveswest.orbiscascade.org/ark:80444/xv241753">(Archives 420)</extref>, and Orton
	 		Hall <extref href="https://archiveswest.orbiscascade.org/ark:80444/xv233702">(Archives 422)</extref> were all received together, but processed separately. A single
	 		Waller Hall calendar was incorporated into <extref href="https://archiveswest.orbiscascade.org/ark:80444/xv71557">Archives 339</extref>. A few remaining unmatched
	 		photos were returned to the donor. </p>
