This collection contains research papers used by Nolan Porter Olsen for writing his book, Logan Temple: The First 100 Years . The papers contained in this collection consist of pamphlets, newspaper clippings, memorabilia about the temple, short histories of the temple, a USU thesis, photographs, and drafts of Olsen's Logan Temple: The First 100 Years .

In October 1876, Brigham Young officially announced plans to build a temple in Logan for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He selected the site seven months later, and construction began on May 28, 1877. Work continued until May 17, 1884, when the Church president John Taylor dedicated the temple.
In commemoration of the Logan Temple's 100th anniversary, Norman Porter Olson wrote a book entitled Logan Temple: The First 100 Years. At the time of the book's publication in 1978, Olson had been associated with the temple for over 43 years. He served as president of the Logan Temple during the remodeling stage that began in 1976 and was competed in 1979.
