  	<head>Biography of Walt Bailey</head><p>Walt Bailey was a chemistry professor and founder of the “Wyoming Mountaineers” climbing club at Casper College.  He passed away in 1958 from high altitude pulmonary edema while climbing Alpamayo in Peru.  Since his passing there has been a mountain (Walt Bailey Peak in the Wyoming Wind River Range) and a trail (Walt Bailey Memorial Route on Devil’s Tower) named in his honor.</p>

	 <head>Scope and Content</head><p>The Walt Bailey papers contain fifteen small spiral notebooks used by Walt Bailey to record his experiences while mountain climbing in Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, (1951-1957).   In addition, there are also two undated typed accounts of climbs, and a register from the summit of Pilot Peak (Wyoming) with entries dating from 1955-1982.</p>
