	 <p>The Seattle-King County Drug Commission was established in 1973.
		  Operating under an agreement between the City and the County, the commission
		  was charged with advising the Mayor and County Executive on issues relating to
		  drug education and treatment, as well as enforcement of drug laws. It also
		  coordinated between public and private drug abuse programs. Half of its
		  fourteen members were appointed by the Mayor, and the other half by the County
		  Executive.</p>
