  	<head>Biography of Kirk Knox</head>
  	<p>Kirk Knox was a journalist, covering all aspects of news in Nebraska and Wyoming. He was born on September 3, 1919 in Exira, Iowa and in 1928 his family moved to La Grange, Wyoming, where Knox graduated high school. He attended Scottsbluff Junior College and became a reporter for the <emph render="italic">Scottsbluff Star Herald</emph> in 1941 until the United States became involved in World War II, he then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Knox was honorable discharged in 1944 and returned to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where he continued work as a reporter, editor, and announcer on the radio station KOLT. In 1951, Knox moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to work as a reporter for the <emph render="italic">Wyoming State Tribune</emph>, a career move that would last for over 50 years and earn him the title of Cheyenne’s “Mr. News.” During his journalism career, Knox wrote for <emph render="italic">The New York Times</emph>, CBS, NBC, <emph render="italic">Newsweek</emph>, <emph render="italic">Time</emph> magazine, <emph render="italic">The Christian Science Monitor</emph>, and <emph render="italic">The Denver Post</emph>. He was also a news anchor and reporter for KFBC-TV when it first aired in March 1954 and hosted programs including, <emph render="italic">Capitol City Commentary</emph> and <emph render="italic">Cheyenne Today</emph> where he did daily commentary with Larry Birleffi. In 2001, the <emph render="italic">Wyoming Tribune Eagle</emph> published, <emph render="italic">The School of Hard Knox: 50 years of News, Sports, and Weather at the Wyoming Tribune Eagle</emph>, a book about Knox’s journalism career. Kirk Knox passed away on November 21, 2005.</p>
