Robert C. Strom donated these materials to Lee Zimmerman, the University Librarian at the time. Strom came into possession of these items when he was vacating a townsite.
The townsite of Fletcher, Idaho was surveyed by the government in 1896. It's first occupants settled in the town in about 1899. The town was located about four miles northeast of Craigmont, Idaho. Mr. McChaud opened the first store and post office, and soon others followed.
In early 1900s, Fletcher began to fade due to the lack of transportation nearby. The railroad did not make a pass through the town, and soon businesses moved to Dublin, Idaho - another extinct town. Nothing remains of the Fletcher townsite which identify where it was located.
