         <p>Dr. Roy M. Chatters was an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering for the College of Engineering at Washington State University. From 1962 to 1969 Chatters was Head of the Radioisotopes and Radiations Laboratory and consulted on the industrial use of radioisotopes.</p>

         <p>(MS 1980-21):</p>
         <p>This collection contains research material from Dr. Roy M. Chatters, pertaining to his professional activities as a professor at Washington State University. The collection consists primarily of incoming and outgoing correspondence with officials at the United States Atomic Energy Commission, other universities, and both American and international businesses in the wood pulp and paper industry. The collection also contains audio recordings from the National Conference on Industrial Uses of Radioisotopes in 1962, the Conference on Radioisotopes Applications in the Wood, Pulp, and Paper Industries in 1964, and the International Carbon-14 and Tritium Dating Conference held in Pullman, Washington in 1965. Additionally, the collection includes correspondence of the Nuclear Reactor Safeguard Committee (1969).</p>
         <p>(MS 2000-28):</p>
         <p>This collection contains research material from Dr. Roy M. Chatters, pertaining specifically to his research on the air gun used in the Lewis and Clark Expedition from 1803 to 1806. The research material includes magazines and clippings, photographs, incoming and outgoing correspondence, and copies of miscellaneous primary sources. The collection also includes personal notes and rough drafts for Chatters' article on the air gun, and the published article, "The Enigmatic Lewis and Clark Airgun," which appeared in The Record (Washington State University Friends of the Library, 1973).</p>
