Norman G. Dyhrenfurth organized and led the American expedition to climb Mount Everest in 1963, which was the first successful American attempt.
The collection contains copies of applications for research grants submitted on behalf of the American Mount Everest Expedition (1963). The applications propose glacio-physical investigations of the terrain and behavioral studies of expedition members. Also included is a detailed food guide for the expedition listing menus and sponsoring organizations.
There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.
