Lynne Mary Howard Goodhart (1938-2023) earned a BA in French literature from the University of Utah (1960) and a PhD from the University of Colorado (1973). She taught French literature at the University of Wisconsin and Utah State University (USU), where she also developed a France Summer Abroad program. Goodhart was honored with several academic awards, including USU Professor of the Year in 1990. Her scholarly work, particularly on French poets, earned international recognition, and she held various prestigious fellowships. Beyond academics, she was a conservationist, pianist, and active in music, directing a choir and contributing to the arts community. She also co-founded a scholarship in choral music at USU in honor of her parents.
