    <bioghist encodinganalog="5450_">
      <p>Eugene Willis Greenfield (1907- ) was a technical researcher for Anaconda Wire and Cable Company, 1935-1950, and Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, Electrical Products Division, 1950-1951. Locating to Washington State University, Greenfield became a professor of electrical engineering and later Dean of the College of Engineering, 1958-1972. He retired from WSU as professor emeritus.</p>

      <p>During his career, Greenfield was an expert in electrical transmission and conducted research in electrical insulation. Additionally, he assisted the Northwest aluminum industry in becoming pioneer producers of aluminum transmission line and cables.</p>

      <p>His publications include: "Taping of Paper Cable: theory and practice," "Sound, Ears, and Scales," "The Sensation of Sound," and "Stereo Sound Reproduction."</p>

      <p>This collection consists of correspondence, minutes, memoranda, working papers, and research notes primarily on electric wire insulation, belonging to Eugene Willis Greenfield and prepared while he was a technical researcher for Anaconda Wire and Cable Company, 1935-1950, and Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, Electrical Products Division, 1950-1951. The working papers and research notes include blueprints, handwritten notes and drawings, and photographs.</p>
