Edward E. Carlson (1911-1990) was president of Western Hotels, Inc. (later Westin Hotels and Resorts) when he chaired the Century 21 Exposition Commission, organizers of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. In 1955, Washington Governor Arthur Langlie appointed him to head the commission, where he was charged with investigating feasibility of the exposition. Once the state legislature approved funding for the project, Carlson became president of Century 21 Exposition, Inc.

This collection consists of materials from Edward Carlson's service on the Century 21 Exposition Commission. It includes listings of officers, commission and committee members, and staff; meeting minutes; financial reports; a report on exploratory and feasibility studies; legislation; a pamphlet published circa 1958-1959 about the upcoming exposition; and a small number of official photographs.
These materials were received in three binders, and the original groupings and order have been preserved.
