  		<p>Edward E. Carlson (1911-1990) was president of Western Hotels, Inc. (later Westin Hotels and Resorts) when he chaired the Century 21 Exposition Commission, organizers of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. In 1955, Washington Governor Arthur Langlie appointed him to head the commission, where he was charged with investigating feasibility of the exposition. Once the state legislature approved funding for the project, Carlson became president of Century 21 Exposition, Inc.<?xm-replace_text {Text of biographical or historical note, in paragraphs; separate each with paragraph tags}?></p>
