The Belmont Hotel was located at 430 North Higgins Avenue in Missoula, Montana, and was in business from 1911 to 1972. For the most part it operated as a railroad hotel, offering, for example, in 1927, services such as steam heat, electric light, telephone service, hot and cold water baths, and reasonable rates by day or week. The establishment had numerous proprietors; however, Mrs. Lena Walker, a.k.a. Mrs. Lena Smith managed the hotel for most of the period of this collection, from 1932 until 1956.
This collection of twenty-four bound volumes of hotel registers dates between 1918 and 1950. These registers include the following information: date of stay, name of guest, room number of guest, and at times the guest’s city of residence and the amount paid for the room. There are also various notes, especially in the later volumes, including people’s addresses and phone numbers.
The hotel registers are arranged in chronological order.

Anthony Terzo donated this collection to the Historical Museum of Fort Missoula in about 1989. With his permission, the Museum donated the collection to this archives in 1991.
