Rosario Bourdon (1885-1961) was a French Canadian musician, conductor, and composer. After immigrating to the United States, Bourdon played with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Philadelphia Orchestra before he was hired by the Victor Talking Machine Company as a piano and cello accompanist. Bourdon also conducted the Victor Concert Orchestra, Victor Symphony Orchestra, and Victor Salon Orchestra during his time with the company. He was eventually promoted to musical co-director. After leaving RCA Victor in 1931, Bourdon directed for Walt Disney, NBC radio, and other recording studios.
Collection contains biographical information; correspondence; music scores for which Bourdon was either composer, arranger, lyricist, or orchestrator; phonograph records of Cities Service programs, other recordings of individual artists and the Victor Concert Orchestra with Bourdon as conductor; photographs; and newspaper clippings.
There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.
