Washington State University's Anthropology Department dates to the 1954-1955 school year, though Anthropology classes had previously been offered in Sociology (Sociology and Anthropology would in fact occasionally merge or split, becoming one or two departments). Anthropology moved into College Hall prior to the 1984-1985 school year, and the building was partially renovated for them prior to the move. Previously Anthropology had been in a number of locations, notably Todd, Johnson (the museum only), Avery, and the former Pine Manor (this order is loosely chronological).
