<bioghist encodinganalog="5450_">

The Logan LDS Temple was constructed between 1877 and 1884 (dedicated on May 17, 1884). In October 1976 the temple closed and renovation began. The building's interior, including artwork was entirely removed. The construction finished in early 1978 and it was rededicated on March 13, 1979.

The historic Capitol Theatre was built in downtown Salt Lake City during 1913. Originally operated as a vaudeville house named Orpheum Theater, this was soon renamed Capitol Theater during 1927, and is currently known as the JQ Lawson Capitol Theater. Damaged by a fire during 1949, there was not a major renovation until finally during 1975.

Craig Law is a retired USU Art Professor who was hired in the late 1970s to take photographs of the interior of the Logan LDS Temple before it's complete renovation. In this instance Professor Law was a work-for-hire and he feels that the LDS Church owns the copyright. Photographs of the pre-renovation Capitol Theater were likely taken around 1974-1975.

Consists of 26 high quality black and white oversized images of the exterior and interior of the Logan Temple taken and printed by Craig Law before its renovation and 34 color transparencies taken by an unknown photogrpaher of the interior of the temple taken shortly after its renovation. Images include the Baptismal Font, the Sealing Rooms, the Holy of Holies, the Celestial Room, the Garden of Eden Room, the Creation Room, the World Room, the Terrestrial Room, the Assembly Hall, the Veil Room, the registration area, and the Presentation Room. Law's images include many of the paintings (in black and white) that were destroyed as part of the renovation. Also included are close-ups of stairs and doors. Additionally, 6 black and white prints of the Capitol Theater in Salt Lake City were later added to the collection. These images include close ups of terra cotta figures that adorned the interior walls.
