         <p>The Japanese-American Seko family operated Bainbridge Gardens, a nursery on Bainbridge Island, Washington until they were evacuated during World War II.</p>

         <p>Photographs of Japanese-American family (K. Seko) circa 1920s-1930s. Collection consists of wedding and funeral pictures (circa 1936); Bush Hotel in the International District, interior and staff (circa 1928); Wasada and Meiji Baseball teams; individual and group portraits in Western and traditional Japanese dress (1920s-1930s); Mount Rainier mountaineering expeditions; Seattle waterfront; Volunteer Park; Snoqualmie Falls; travel pictures from Oregon and Japan; and a photograph of Charlie Chaplin posing with two Japanese actors in traditional dress (Folder 9).</p>
