      <p>The Japanese Church of Christ of Salt Lake City, Utah was founded in October of 1918. In the 1940s, Reverend Howard Toriumi and Arnold Nakajima poured resources into ministry and community building for second generation (Nisei) children of Japanese immigrants. The Boy Scouts of America Troop 84 was one such initiative sponsored by the church. Troop 84 was an all-Japanese group of boy scouts.</p>
