Floyd T. Wood was born in Wahpeton, North Dakota, on November 15, 1885, to Charles Nash Wood and Elizabeth Wood. He married Augusta Krebs in Calgary, Alberta, in 1913. The couple moved to Bozeman, Montana, in 1918. He worked as a clerk for an agricultural implements store and developed a keen interest in recording the weather before his death on November 14, 1970.
The Floyd T. Wood weather diary consists of annual records of precipitation on the Montana State University campus station in Bozeman, Montana, from 1880 to 1969. Floyd may have gotten some of the early information from the college experiment station bulletins and compiled the later, handwritten entries himself.
