      <p>On October 9, 1926, the University of Oregon football team played against the University of Washington football team at the newly constructed Multnomah Field Civic Stadium (later Providence Park) in Portland, Oregon. The game was preceded by a brief dedication ceremony for the stadium. The University of Washington won the game, 23-9; an estimated 26,000 to 27,000 people attended.</p>
