      <bioghist encodinganalog="545">
    
         <p>Orlan Duette "O.D." Keen was born March 29, 1880 in Fall Branch, Tennessee to Enoch Newton Keen and Elizabeth Rebecca Keen. He married Bertha Olivia Crouch on November 13, 1901, with whom he had four children. In 1904, Keen and his family moved to Walla Walla, Washington where he started O.D. Keen Construction Service, and became a prominent contractor in the Walla Walla area. Throughout his career, he oversaw construction on many businesses and buildings in Walla Walla, including on the Whitman Collge campus. He died May 5, 1972 at the age of 92, and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla.</p>

         <p>This collection houses blueprints drafted and used by O.D. Keen Construction Service for projects in Walla Walla, Washington. Spanning from 1905 through 1984, this collection includes plans and blueprints for Whitman residence halls, Penrose Library, the Young Men's Christian Association building, and many homes and office buildings in the Walla Walla area. There is also a small collection of photographs documenting contruction and labor activiites.</p>
