Myron Griffin (1911-1936) was born in Colorado but lived in Oregon for a number of years. He graduated from the University of Oregon where he was an associate editor of the DUCDAME, a literary magazine which was to "serve as an outlet for student talent and a stimulus to further industry in the field of writing."

Griffin made his first professional appearance with the story "The Belle Dame," in Esquire, 1934. He also wrote stories for Frontier and Midland, The Dilettante, and The American Spectator. Griffin wrote at least one short story under the pen name John York.

The collection contains drafts and revisions of manuscripts, notes, story ideas, photographs, and professional correspondence.

Incoming correspondence is organized by date, 1930 to 1936, and includes letters from publishers, editors, and agents.

Manuscript material is organized by title of manuscript. Book length manuscript titles include, "The Anatomy of Drunkenness," which was written in the style of the eighteenth century, and includes multiple drafts and revisions. There are many short story length manuscripts, and material includes drafts, revisions, and insertions. The collection includes a few magazines with published pieces of his short stories.

Other material includes a folder of illustrations for "The Belle Dame," a leather notebook with story ideas, a list of writings and where they were sent for publication, tearsheets, and notes.

There are also photographs from the 1930s of family and friends.
