Amal-Jyoti Ghosh (better known as Pannalal Ghosh) (1911-1960) was flute (bansuri) player, composer, teacher, and boxer from East Bengal (present day People's Republic of Bangladesh). He studied music from his family members as a child and later studied under sarod player and multi-instrumentalist Allaudin Khansaheb. In the late 20s, he joined the Indian Independence Movement against British occupation. Ghosh created and / or promoted new ragas including Deepawali, Pushpachandrika, Ratna-Pushpika, Chandramauli, Panchavati and Noopurdwani. He created his own unique bansuri that was 32 inches in length as well as a bass bansuri and a six-stringed tanpura.
